Versatile Corporate-Wide Access supports full-text index searching on some text fields that can contain a large amount of data. The searching methods are highly optimized and will return results very quickly. Advanced searching criteria can be used; however, with additional speed and functionality come strict syntax rules. The Smart Search functionality supports keyword searching in the Research, Schedules and Interviews areas of the application. This feature allows for a flexible search without any special formatting. See Smart Searching for more details.
The following fields are able to utilize the advanced full-text searching functionality:
· Research: Keywords search filter searches across the Citation ID, Regulated Party, Record Description, Citation Text, and Headings fields as well as Synonyms
· Schedules: Keyword for Description and Keywords for Country Notes search the Schedule Description and Country Notes text
· Interviews: Keywords for Notes search the Record Title Description text associated with interview records
Search filters outside of those listed above use implicit wildcard searching, which means wildcards are assumed before and after the word or phrase you enter. You do not need to enter them, but you can't use advanced searching techniques like Boolean filters. Errors in wildcard searching will trigger a message to correct the search.
For a description of all of the searching syntax, see the Full Text Searching Reference Table.
