Searching by Jurisdictions

You might want to search by jurisdictions if you want to browse citations that might apply to the states in which your organization operates or does business. You can also search an item called “Federal” that will search Code of Federal Regulations or United States Code Service citations only.

To search by jurisdiction:

1.       From the Versatile Corporate-Wide Access main menu, select the Research option.
2.      Select the Organization tab if it is not already selected.

The Jurisdictions list shows an alphabetical list of the countries set up for your organization.  Some countries are broken down further - for example, by province or state.  Under the United States, all fifty states and an item called “Federal” are available. Select the country to search all sub-jurisdictions that fall under that country.

3.      If you want to limit the list to the jurisdictions identified for a particular company, select the company from the Companies drop-down list.

The Jurisdictions list immediately changes to display only the jurisdictions that have been identified for the selected company.

4.      Find and click the jurisdiction you want to search by selecting a country or a sub-jurisdiction under the country. To search all U.S. state and federal jurisdictions, click “United States.” You can select multiple jurisdictions by using the Shift and Ctrl keys.
5.      Click Search. The citations found are listed. To work with the search results, see Working with Citation Search Results.
